A short guide to Beaumaris
St. David's Park - May 30th 2019
Beaumaris is arguably one of the most picturesque towns in Anglesey, with its bustling high street, gorgeous seafront and world-famous medieval castle.
It’s located just a short drive from St. David’s Park and is great day out for families and adults alike.
The town centre
The high-street, and its surrounding area, offers a great blend of well-known high street brands and local shops and cafes, selling local brands and produce. This provides a distinct character to the town centre, and great for shopping and exploring the charming streets. There is also traditional pubs and highly-rated restaurants for those looking for a pleasant evening out.
The seafront
Running parallel to the high street is the equally picturesque seafront, where a stroll is a must for visitors. Activities for children can be found here, plus a pier where the views of the Menai Strait and surrounding coastal scenery are truly mesmerising. The highly ‘instagrammable’ streets lined with pastel coloured seaside terraces and cottages can be found here, plus the impressive traditional Bulkeley Hotel, gorgeously covered in ivy.
The castle
Of course, the UNESCO world heritage castle is the town’s most well-known attraction, and well within walking distance from the town centre and seafront. It was constructed between 1295-1330. It is jaw-dropping, with an imposing draw bridge entrance and beautiful moat. A visit to the castle makes for a brilliant adventure with children, who love exploring the vast fort and joining in on themed activities. There is also a programme of special events throughout the coming months.
