The route for this year’s walk is now as follows:
9.15 meet at Carreg Bran Hotel, adjacent to Britannia Bridge, Anglesey.LL61 5YH.
We will then walk to The Menai Bridge along the Coastal Path via St Tysilio Church and the Belgian Promenade, walking underneath the grand Arches of Menai Bridge and arriving at the Heritage Centre for 11am where we will have a tour of the heritage center which will be followed by a guided tour of Menai Bridge.
We will then take the road through the small industrial estate to the Treborth Botanical Gardens were we will have access to the gardens and the 3 Glasshouses.
Leaving the Botanical gardens we will backtrack a short way and then take the coastal path through the woods to Britannia Bridge where we will see a section of the old bridge & the famous lions.
Continuing along the Coastal Path through the Woods, we can see Nelson's Column on the opposite bank of the Straits and then as we enter the Vaynol Estate, Plas Newydd can be seen.
On arriving at Porth Dinorwic Marina, the drivers will be ferried back to Carreg Bran to collect vehicles. While you wait for your chariots to return there is a cafe available on the dockside - Swellies Cafe.
Carreg Bran to Porth Dinorwic is 6.7 miles approx and allowing 1 hr at both the Heritage Centre and Menai Bridge tours, plus a further 2 hours to Porth Dinorwic. We should be finishing around 2pm.
The route does include walking on public roads and you are responsible for your own safety at all times and for the safety of any youngsters in your company.
Back then to Coed Helen and at 5pm Jazz who will be hosting the walkers at Molly's and may be arranging entertainment later in the evening.
Don’t forget, this is a fund raising event and this year the selected charities are Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Teenage Cancer Trust. You could organise sponsorship for yourselves or make a personal contribution (generously of course).
Let’s spread the word with friends at Coed Helen.
Please advise me if you are going to walk with us, I need names and numbers attending for the Heritage Center and for Jazz at Molly’s and also for arranging transport.
If you would like your name to be added to the Facebook chat room for Coed Helen Walkers please advise.
