Outdoor Sports Near Berthlwyd Park
Berthlwyd Hall Holiday Park - January 29th 2016
Berthlwyd Holiday Park is based in the endlessly green and beautiful countryside outside of Llandudno. We are lucky to be just a stone’s throw from all the attractions of the coast, the town of Llandudno and North Wales’s more inland forests and mountain ranges.
We are set in an ideal location for anyone who loves outdoor sports. Choosing to buy one of our luxurious holiday homes for sale in Llandudno it means you can enjoy amazing attractions like Zip World and Surf Snowdonia, which is only 15 minutes away from our park!
We are also in a great location for inland water sports, only a short drive from many of North Wales’ best rivers and waterfalls. This is one of the best areas for anyone who loves kayaking or canoeing.
As 2016 is the Wales Year of Adventure we thought this we be a good time to share some of the best kayaking and canoeing spots you can visit nearby in North Wales if you are a resident of our park.
The Fairy Glen, Afon Conwy, Betws-y-Coed
Whitewater just outside of Betws-y-Coed. Fairy Glen is famous with whitewater paddlers all over the world. The river starts under Conwy Falls and flows through two steep sided canyons, punctuated by the cascading Fairy Falls.
Afon Llugwy from Plas-y-Brenin to Jim’s Bridge, Capel Curig
The river at Plas-Y-Brenin in Capel Curig is a perfect spot. There is a small rapid below the footbridge where the lake becomes a river again, a good area for practising. Below here the river joins the Llugwy and there are a number of pleasant grade 2 rapids culminating in the longer “Jim’s Bridge” rapid.
Upper Conwy
Conwy River is a more challenging trip. Access to the river is easiest from the big layby near Pentrefoelas, and there are grade 3 rapids in deep gorges. Bryn Bras falls offers a longer twisting grade 4 rapids. More are found below the arch of Rhydlanfair bridge.
Aberglaslyn Gorge, Beddgelert
The Aberglaslyn Gorge has a high density of great rapids. Non-stop sequences of curling waves and small eddies are to be found for more experienced paddlers.
